In Bavaria alone, over 700 clubs with around 10,000 active members maintain this custom, which dates back to the 14th/15th century. From warding off demons and spirits to accompanying special occasions and major festivals: Böllern is a lived tradition in Bavaria. Our Böllerschützinnen and Böllerschützen carry out this tradition with great care. Because handling explosives involves great responsibility.
